I am very happy to be contributing to a piece that Robyn Love, Textile Fabric Artist will be creating and installing in Cheonju, Korea.
The installation is something that was requested and called a yarnbomb or sorts. It will be installed over a line of 1500 trees, which measures about 5km, called the “Avenue of Trees”.
The idea is to knit 20” x 20” squares in solid colours that will create a blanket cover the trees. The blocks will be sewn knit together in same colour coordination which will transition seamlessly into the next colour. There will be 1500 squares knit or crotchet to complete the yarnbomb.
The effect that it will give is when drivers are driving along the roadway they will watch the transition of colour as if it were moving with them.
I will post when the installation is complete. I’m hoping that Robyn will post a video to illustrate the movement of this yarnbombing.
whoa! this my friend kirsten. so proud of you, gurl.
